Newport News – Peggy Sue Lyell, 58, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020. A native of Newport News, VA, she joined her mother, Mary Nicholas; father, Dewey Wilson and sister, Connie Southcombe at the Golden Gates of Heaven.
She loved bars, dancing and partying. She also loved having fun, camping and the beach. Her whole world was her grandbabies.
Left to cherish her loving memories is her husband, Herbert W. Lyell; life-long companion, James R. Cupp and three beautiful daughters and their companions, Terri Nicole Lyell (Bryant Johnson), Nina Marie Lyell (Kevin Bernard) and Trisha Lynn Lyell (William Rhodes). She is also survived by her grandchildren, that she cherished with all her heart, Austin Lyell, Raymond Cartwright, Hayden Rhodes, Cecilia Rhodes, Robert Lyell, Anthony Rhodes, Hunter Rhodes, Taylor Johnson, Matthew Rhodes, Brooke Bernard, Lola Holmes and Savanna Holmes; step-father, Roger Nicholas and two sisters and their companions, Wanda and Randy Hardison and Kimberly and Steve Hatt. Peggy will be missed and loved by her nieces and nephews, Melanie, Melissa, Shane, Tara and Dillon and great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and many more.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at Denbigh United Presbyterian Church, 302 Denbigh Blvd., Newport News, VA 23608.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Nikki’s house.
Memorial donations in memory of Peggy may be made to Denbigh United Presbyterian Church.
Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with their arrangements.
