Peter A. Jones of Westerly, RI and recently Virginia Beach, VA passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022. Mr. Jones was born in Brooklyn NY in October 1940 to Charles Jones and Madeline McCullough Jones. He is one of 9 children, preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Charles, Gerald, and Gregory as well as 2 of his sisters, Maureen and Claudia. He graduated from Westwood HS and served in the US Navy from 1960-1962. He was married to Beatrice O’Brien from 1964-1985 and Sharon Jones from 1995 until her passing in 2020. Mr. Jones was known for his rapier wit and infectious sense of humor. He loved to be on the water: he loved boating and sailing and owned numerous seagoing vessels over his lifetime; he was an avid member of the Westerly (RI) Yacht Club where he served for a time as Commodore. He was also a proud member of Westerly’s Elk Lodge 678. Mr. Jones was a talented mechanic and master carpenter who built numerous structures of his own design with his own hands. He is survived by his sisters Audrey, Lynn, and Denise as well as his 4 children: Peter Jr, Jerilyn, Tara, and Kristin; their spouses Sheri, Bill, Robert, and Brian, respectively; his 13 grandchildren: Adam, Brienne, Lauren, Ashlyn, Samantha, Justine, Brennan, Owen, Meredith, Brooks, Jenna, Brandon, and Ben; his 5 great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Sedrick Jr, Eleanor, Aliyah, and William. A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Therese (4137 Portsmouth Blvd, Chesapeake, VA) on Saturday, May 14^th, at 1PM.
