Peter Bogart Young was born December 28, 1941 in Lebanon, Pa., and died September 14, 2018 in Mascot, Virginia.
Son of the late Aubrey and Sarah Young, he is survived by his wife, Rosemary Young; children, Desirée Young Davis (Robert) and Michele Young-Stone (Danny); four grandchildren, Lauren Townsend, Peter Davis, Parker Davis, and Christopher Young-Stone; his brother, John Young and wife, Melanie and many nieces and nephews.
Since retirement, he was an active member of his local chapter of the American Legion and volunteered for the Disabled American Veterans. Peter served in both the Air Force and Coast Guard. He had a master’s degree in Industrial Arts. An astute and talented wood-worker, he built beautiful furniture (and just about anything else he wanted). He was also an accomplished and talented gunsmith, building flint-lock rifles. For a time, he taught in public schools and at the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He was most passionate about fishing. He loved the water, boats, and his books.
A memorial service will be held at Forest Chapel United Methodist Church, 316 Forest Chapel Road, Saluda, VA, 23149, Saturday, September 29, 2018, at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion #314, 6250 Richmond Tappahannock Highway, Aylett, VA 23009.
