Preston Alexander “Al” Puckett Jr., 66, of Virginia Beach passed peacefully at home Wednesday, October 03, 2018. He was surrounded by his beloved family. Alex was born to Preston Alexander Puckett SR. and Ellen Gertrude Puckett in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from John Marshall High School and attended Hampden Sydney University.

Alex was married to Lorraine “Lori” Puckett in 2001, and they lived together in Virginia Beach. Alex was a hardworking, loyal man who dedicated 30+ years to Metro Machine Corp. / NASCO Norfolk until he retired in 2015.

Alex was a lover of life and enjoyed spending time with his family, travel and had a passion for being surrounded by nature. He had a contagious sense of humor that always kept everyone around him laughing. He was full of jokes and sarcasm in a very loving kind of way, anything for a smile. Alex knew the importance of family and at any given moment he was there to extend a helping hand. As a close friend expressed “He was a good man and a saint. He taught you how to love by example.”

In addition to his loving wife, Alex is survived by 5 children and 10 grandchildren: Erin Torio & Luther Owens (Logan, Landon and Addy), Jennifer & Mike Uriah (Alyssa and Lizzy), Melissa & Danny Dotterer (Genisis and Ronnie) , Frankie Palmitesso(Trey), Sara “Katie” Palmitesso (Starr and Eleyon) and his furry son, puppy Riley Alexander Puckett. Alex is also survived by his sister Nancy Mathews of Silver Spring, MD.

A memorial service will be held Thursday,  October 11, 2018 at 6pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Dr. Va Beach, VA 23462 with a reception following. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements.  (757) 474-9409.
