Carrollton, VA – Burlyn Ray Baker, known fondly as Ray, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 81. Born on October 7, 1943, in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Ray was a beloved husband, friend, and community member.
Ray’s career was both varied and accomplished, reflecting his dedication and work ethic. He held the role of District Manager at Ray Ban, where he showcased his leadership and commitment. In his later years, Ray brought his skills and enthusiasm to Sentara timeshare sales, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of his professional life, Ray was a man of many passions. He was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular love for golf and fishing. His time spent on the golf course or by the water provided him with joy and tranquility, and he cherished these moments deeply.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, John Richard Baker and Minnie Ruth Beland Baker. He is survived by his devoted wife, Annis Beaman Baker, who was his steadfast companion throughout their years together.
Though he has left this world, Ray’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, strength, and dedication will forever be remembered.
Per Ray’s wishes, no services are planned, however; family and friends will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and the lasting impact he made on their lives. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
