Newport News ~ Raymond Andrew White Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday July 20, 2022, from the comforts of his home in Newport News, VA where he wanted to spend his last days. He was born on March 31, 1939, to Mrs. Ella Virginia and Mr. Andrew Henry White in Yorktown, VA.
He completed a general education at Yorktown Training School and upon graduation he went into the Air Force. After returning, he relocated to Washington, D.C. where he spent most of his life. While there he married his wife, Mary General, and during their union they welcomed five beautiful children, Nadine, Michelle, Raymond Jr., Dennis, and Andre. He then moved back home in 1991-92 where he then met his wife, Iola, and from their union they welcomed a beautiful daughter, Alise. Raymond’s passion for the Washington Commanders was a big deal every Sunday during football season. In his spare time, he loved cleaning his cars, nurturing his numerous pets, exploring nature trails, feeding the ducks, going out to Yorktown Beach with his friends to go clamming, and spending time with family.
In addition to being predeceased by his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister Gwendolyn, brother Lawrence, sons Dennis and Raymond Jr, and grandchildren Brooklyn & Braylon. Left to cherish in his memory is his lifelong partner, Terri Tozer; four children Nadine, Michelle (Carl), Andre, and Alise; granddaughters Ava, Janae, Ramonee’; grandsons Zachary, Andre Jr., KeAndre; brother Russell; sisters Ruby, Ruth and Diane and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Sandy Bottom Nature Park located at 1255 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, VA 23669 in the Lakeside Conference room on August 1, 2022 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to please donate to the American Cancer Society found at www.cancer.org. Condolences may be left for the family at www.vacremationsociety.com
