The Reverend Josephine A. Taylor passed away March 8, 2023 in Virginia Beach, VA at the end of a long illness. “Reverend Jo” as many people call her was born on March 11, 1933 to Robert and Josephine Arnold of Richmond, VA.

Josephine graduated from St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, VA in 1951 and went on to study at several educational institutions, earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and a master’s degree in English from Tulane University. She taught English for 12 years before deciding to study for the ministry. Josephine graduated Virginia Theological Seminary in 1982. She became ordained as an Episcopal Deacon June 23, 1984; and ordained an Episcopal Priest at Saint Paul’s Church in Wallingford, CT on May 11, 1985. Jo went on to do God’s work for the rest of her life.

Reverend Jo loved being outdoors, especially bird watching, taking walks, watching the ocean/bay waves, and visiting local parks.

In addition to her parents, Jo was also predeceased by her older brother, Robert Bacon Arnold. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine, a grandson, and a great-grandson in Maryland.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in the chapel of Westminster Canterbury at 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Josephine’s honor at https://secure.cbf.org.
