Richard Moritz Heuneman Jr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia was called home to Heaven on Thursday, November 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Richie, often referred to as “Little Rich” was 60 years old, born September 3, 1964, to Betty Byrd and Richard Heuneman Sr. in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Richie’s journey on Earth was lived with purpose, rooted in faith and trust in God. A dedicated father, loving brother, and loyal friend, Richie was also a devoted son to his parents, bringing them immense pride and joy. Known for his skilled craftsmanship as a carpenter, his love for music, and his warm, contagious laughter, Richie was everyone’s best friend—always reliable and there when you needed him.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents Betty and Richie Sr.; his daughter Kelsey; brother Chris; dear friend Jeff; nieces Amber & Eden; nephew CJ; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends. Richie was predeceased by his brother Paul, and his beloved dog Daisy.
As an accomplished carpenter, he built more than just structures—he built deep connections and strong friendships with his positive energy and willingness to lend a hand. Richie had an unmatched sense of humor and was always making light of any situation. He enjoyed shooting pool, collecting baseball cards, scratching lottery tickets (often with suspicious luck), and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose. Whether he was strumming his guitar or playing with his dog Daisy girl, Richie filled every room with joy, quick wit, and a welcoming spirit. To know him was to love him.
A Celebration of Life for Richie Heuneman Jr. will be held to honor his memory. We invite everyone to bring a dish to share, potluck style, as we celebrate his life in the way he would have loved—surrounded by laughter and good times. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to assist with any unexpected expenses.
The celebration will be held November 23rd, 2024 (2:00 PM) at 4761 Haygood Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
