Robert “Bob” Moll peacefully entered Eternal Life on Friday September 8, 2023 at the age of 90.
Bob was born on June 01, 1933, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Clarence and Viola Moll. He was preceded in death by his brother Jim & wife Helen.
Bob is survived by Cynthia, his wife of 67 years, children, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Alan, daughter- in- law Debbie (Brown) Moll, grandson Christian Moll, wife Amanda and daughter Mabel, & grandson Jonathan Moll.
Bob attended the University of Wisconsin- Madison. He was enrolled in the ROTC program & graduated with a degree in accounting. He was also a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Bob served two years active duty in the Navy and 20 years in the Navy Reserves before retiring as a Commander.
In Wisconsin Bob was Treasurer at McDonald Davis & Associates, the 3rd largest advertising firm in the state. After moving to Virginia in 1976 he held the position of Secretary Treasurer at C. E. Thurston & Sons for 23 years until retiring in 1999.
Bob also served as Treasurer on the Norfolk Crime Line Board of Directors and served as the fifth President in 1987 & 1988. During his term as president, Bob was instrumental in leading the regional effort to have the International Crime Stoppers Association hold their international convention in Norfolk. The convention was a huge success that brought recognition to the local area and fostered the beginning of crime line/crime stopper programs in many jurisdictions. Bob served over 34 years until stepping down in 2015. Bob was also chairman of the BBB, receiving an award for his time & service in 1990.
During his retirement years, Bob enjoyed golfing with his grandsons & taking them (with Cynthia) to the various battlegrounds in VA. He also enjoyed the annual family trip to Massanutten, Virginia which typically fell around Valentine’s Day. Bob & Cynthia travelled to Europe many times with their good friends from Wisconsin, always looking forward to the next big adventure! Bob was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers & was frequently referred to as a “Cheesehead”. He loved birdwatching, especially the Hummingbirds. And he loved his “grand” dogs Fraser & Rusty.
Bob liked to joke around and have fun, but he will best be remembered for his kind spirit and sweet smile which made everyone feel good.
