Robert C. Y. Young, 95, passed away on May 26, 2022. He was born in Shanghai, China. After finishing high school in China, Robert immigrated, with a group of friends, to the United States to further his education. Robert received his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Case Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a partner at IKW, PC in New York, working on several notable projects, including the design of Shea Stadium and the renovation of Yankee Stadium. The group of friends and their families remained close over the years, calling themselves the Planeteers and even having reunions, which spanned three generations. Robert and his family lived in Hartsdale and spent his leisure time travelling the world, both by air and on cruises, as well as playing mah-jongg, bridge, tennis, and skiing.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, sisters Vivienne Chin (Arthur, deceased) of Portland, Oregon, and Sandra Wang of Shanghai, China, and daughter Deirdra K. Young of Hartsdale, New York.
Robert is survived by Grace, his wife of 63 years, sister Julia Yao (Guy) of Portland, Oregon, brothers Mickey Yang (San Juan) of Shanghai, China and Chuck Yang of Portland, Oregon; sons Geoffrey (Debra) of Chesterfield, Virginia, granddaughter, Grace, and Oliver of Newtown, Connecticut, granddaughter Rowan and grandson, Trevor.
