Robert Earl Hackett, passed away January 12, 2025, in his home with family. Bob was born in Epping, New Hampshire on November 28, 1942, to John D. and Eunice R. Hackett, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Weston and sister Kathryn. Bob was a proud 30-year veteran of the US Navy, retiring as the Command Master Chief of the USS Coral Sea CV-43. He was a member of the King William Ruritan Club. He enjoyed his miniature horses, attending horse shows and participating in local parades along with family. Bob loved people and never met a stranger anywhere. He loved boating, camping and fishing with friends. He loved the wildlife around his home and enjoyed feeding the birds. Most of all he loved his recently adopted Pomeranian named Lami, who he affectionately called “Buddy”.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years Marilyn J. Hackett, his daughters Felicia Kalber (Matt) of Glen Allen, VA and Danielle Wilson (Tony) of Quinton, VA his grandchildren Madison (Josh), Kendall, AJ and Carter. He is also survived by his brother Danny Hackett (Diana) of Oregon.
A gathering of friends and family will be held 12-4pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at his home. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington VA.
