Suffolk –
Robert Gray Orrell, 87, was called home by God on September 18, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Raleigh, NC, the son of James and Viola Capps Orrell, he is survived by sons, Robert Orrell and wife, Shirlie, and Darryl Orrell and wife, Lynn; grandsons, Bobby and Joshua Orrell; brother, George Orrell; sisters, Lola Horton and Mildred Jones; companion, Grace Hall; other loving family members and friends.
As a World War II and Korean War veteran, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps valiantly defending our nation’s and other’s freedom. He continued his service to our country as a government employee, working as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic until he retired.
His presence among us will be greatly missed, but his memory will fill our hearts forever. We are comforted knowing he is eternally present with the Lord and those who preceded him to heaven, including his wife of 53 years, Eleanor Orrell.
