The Lord called Robert “Bob” home Sunday morning. He lived a long, happy and active life. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. Following his military service, he retired from Jones and Frank. He devoted his retirement years to caring for the love of his life Martha Thompson. They shared 59 loving years together. They raised two children Michael Thompson (Melissa) and Marsha Moriarty (Jack). His two grandchildren Nick Thompson and Riley Thompson were the absolute joy of his life.
He enjoyed hiking, fishing, photography and spending time with his family. He was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Virginia Beach. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in support of Meals on Wheels Virginia Beach.
