Robert L. Coia, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully in his home on February 6, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 19, 1939 in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Andrew Coia and Myrtle (née McCort) Marshall. Also predeceasing him were his sister, Christine Coia, and his brothers, Andrew “Bud” Coia and James Coia.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda (née Locke) Coia; children: Michele Coia-Veston (Victor), Robert L. Coia, Jr. (Regina), Christina Seklecki (David), Dawn LePore (AJ), and Jeffrey Timms (Bonnie); 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; siblings: Edward Coia, Antoinette Coia, Richard Coia (Wendy), Rita Martino, Tom Dixon, Rusty Imperiale, and Linda Paloff; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
Robert proudly served his country in the Marine Corps and went on to work in the insurance industry for 30 years, as well as in software programming and telecommunication sales. He was multitalented and had many interests throughout his life. He was a third-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do and even owned a martial arts school where he taught all ages. He was a pilot, an archer, a scuba diver, a champion dog trainer, and an avid photographer. He was also musically talented and could play multiple instruments. Robert enjoyed exercising and keeping fit, especially running and lifting. He was also a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan and never missed a game!
A celebration of an extraordinary life will be held at a later date.
