Robert (Robbie) K. Newton, Jr.
Chesapeake – Robert (Robbie) K. Newton, Jr., 37, peacefully passed away at his childhood home, February 12, 2017. A native of Chesapeake, he was the son of Dolores Graves Downing and Ken Newton. Robbie was in the first graduating class of Hickory High School – 1997. He worked at Food Lion on Centerville Turnpike, then the old Home Quarters where he met Mandie Jennings. He was hired at Coca-Cola and loved going to work everyday. Robbie and Mandie later married and had two wonderful children Robert K. Newton, III and Macie Layne Newton, who were the loves of his life. Robbie was known throughout Chesapeake as one who loved playing Corn Hole and was darn good.
Robbie aka “Stamos” is survived by his mother Dolores Downing (Bob), his father Ken Newton (Cathey), his children Robert Newton, III and Macie Layne Newton, and their mother Mandie Jennings Newton, his sisters Susan Ragans (Mark) and Kathy Odom (Danny) and nephews Bobby Chambers (Ali), Danny, Jon and Timmy. The family would also like to thank the nursing staff at Sentara Leigh, and Nurse Amy Cox, who was always there for us. And our many friends that have given us strength and support throughout the last four months, thank you is not enough.
Your spirit now rests in harmony, since you were called with the angels above.
But your smile will live forever, and it’s only you I think of.
But I believe in eternal life, and some day we will meet again,
To celebrate and rejoice, and it will never have to end.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 12, 2017 starting at 2:00 at the Chesapeake Fraternal Order of Police Lodge on Kempsville Road in Chesapeake. We are going to make this a day Robbie would enjoy- Corn Hole, food, drinks and fellowship. Please come with your stories and memories of Robbie.
