Rodney Muir Rhodes, 67, of Takoma Park, Maryland, passed away on September 13, 2024. Born on April 30, 1957, Rod was a master cabinet maker renowned for his exceptional craftsmanship. His distinguished career included designing and building kitchens and bathrooms for notable clients, including Newt Gingrich and several Saudi Arabian princes.
Rod was married to Deborah (Debbie Gale) Rhodes, who predeceased him in 2001. He is survived by his three children, Melissa Rhodes, Gary Rhodes, and Abbey Stanley, along with his son-in-law, Lazarus Stanley. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Sophia Stanley and Isaiah Stanley, and was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Medina in 2018. Rod’s sister, Nanette Rhodes, resides in Florida, and he is remembered by many other cherished family members.
Rod had a deep passion for working with wood, enjoyed science fiction, watched shows about gold mining, and loved fishing. He was also an avid consumer of political content. Despite his health challenges later in life, his enthusiasm for these interests remained strong.
A celebration of Rod’s life will be held at Gary’s home once his remains are complete. Details will be shared by the family. The family invites those who knew Rod to share their pictures and memories with Abbey so that they can be shared/displayed at the celebration of life.
