On Tuesday July 28, 2020 at 6:55 am Ronald Joseph Rothmann loving father, son, and brother passed away at the age of 62 after losing his battle against cancer in his hometown of Virginia Beach, VA. He was known by most as Ron but he was lovingly called RJ or Ronnie by those close to him. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 10, 1957 to Edwin and Maryann Rothmann. He grew up in the suburban neighborhood of Mantua, NJ, and attended Clearview High School. At age 17 he joined the United States Marines and served as an Aviation Ordnance/Missile Technician. He spent most of his life as self-employed Master Carpenter. He was talented, meticulous, and prided himself in doing an outstanding job.
RJ was quick witted with a wonderful sense of humor, an avid music lover, and vinyl album collector. He enjoyed time with friends playing a good game of golf, whether on the greens or on the Playstation, and he threw one hell of a game of darts and cornhole.
Ron was preceded in death by his father Edwin Rothmann Sr, his brother Edwin Rothman Jr. (Buddy) and his sister Teresa Rothmann-Bell. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Rothmann, his mother Maryann Rothmann, his sisters Linda Geariety and Cheri Zuccolo, and his closest friend and brother George Prevost.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 25th, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Park, at the location of the family plots. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
