Ronald T. Parks, born February 17, 1946, died September 24, 2023, at age 77 after a resurgence of cancer. Ron was born in Norfolk, the son of Kellam and Katherine Parks. He also grew up in Norfolk, graduating from Maury High School, ultimately moving to Virginia Beach where he lived.
Ron worked in various industries until settling in the automotive field as a young man, first in sales and then owning a repair shop, Little Creek Service Center for many years before retiring and selling the business.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, June; his three children, Deborah Montagna, Kellam T. Parks (Kelly), and William Snowden (Susan); a long list of grandchildren and great grandchildren; his brother Wayne Parks and sister Eunice Mears. In addition to being predeceased by his parents, Ron was predeceased by his sister, Linda Santos, and his wife and mother of Kellam and Deborah, Beverly (d. 2000).
Ron will be remembered for living life loudly. He loved to share a drink with company, and it was rare he wouldn’t run into someone he knew when out. Ron was always quick with a joke and loved to hold court telling the exploits of his youth, of which there were many. Ron was also a generous spirit, willing to help those in need and giving the shirt off his back for others. He was an avid golfer most of his life, enjoying time with his friends on the course.
A small family memorial service will take place at gravesite of the family plot in Forest Lawn Cemetery where Ron’s ashes will be interned. Honoring Ron’s spirit, a Celebration of Life will be held in November for family and Ron’s friends with invitations forthcoming.
