Rose Andrews Hess, 84, of Virginia Beach went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 with her loving family’s prayers in her heart. She lived a rich life; full of family and friends, cats and dogs, flowers and sunshine, sailing and cooking, faith and prayer.
Rose was born and raised in Erie, PA. She met Jack B. Andrews at Thiel College in Pennsylvania and they married while in school there. She traveled the world as a Navy wife. Eventually they settled in Virginia Beach where she taught elementary school and finished raising their children. After Jack’s death, she met and married Ron Hess. They lived in Virginia Beach where they enjoyed each other’s families and friends, made summer trips to Maine, had adventures together and enjoyed life. Rose loved to paint and garden and create beautiful things. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and looked forward to football season every year.
Left to treasure memories of her are: Ronald A. Hess, husband; her children Gay Lynn and Will Rountree of Virginia Beach and their children Caitie and Carter; John Andrews of Norfolk and his children Carin and Meghan; and Mark Andrews of Virginia Beach; her step-children Mike and Ann Hess of Chesapeake and Ann’s child Essie; Chris Hess of Centerville; Sarah and Vytis Simaitis of Falls Church and their children Alex and Ethan; Katie and Woody Anderson of Norfolk and their children Alyssa and Trent. Many other dear family members and friends will miss her sweet smile.
A service of remembrance will be held at Trinity Church, 401 35th St. Virginia Beach, VA 23451, on Friday, August 30 at 4 pm.
