Ryan Jeffrey Cappello, a devoted and loving father, passed away on May 30, 2021 at Sentara Heart Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born June 28, 1987 in Syracuse, NY. Ryan was the beloved son of Dennis J. Cappello and Susan (King) Cappello of Hanahan, SC, and previously of Chittenango, NY.
Ryan graduated in 2006 from Chittenango High School and was an avid Boston Red Sox, NY Jets, and Syracuse basketball fan. After high school, Ryan enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served as a gunner aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Bush. While in the Navy, Ryan discovered a real passion for cars and had a successful career as a faithful and hardworking manager at Oceana Motors in Virginia Beach.
Ryan’s greatest achievement was his beloved daughter Olivia Rae Cappello. His only desire in this world was to make his little girl happy. She was his sidekick and pride and joy.
Along with his daughter, Ryan is survived by sisters Jessica (Craig Bulson) Cappello and Nicolette (Chris) Watson, both of Liverpool, NY and brother Nicholas Cappello of Hanahan, SC. Ryan was also an uncle to Riley, Lucas, Noah, Parker, Juliette and Maryn. Ryan leaves behind numerous other family members and dear friends that he loved and cared for deeply.
He was well-known for his fun-loving and loud personality, sense of humor, and unending kindness toward others. Ryan was loved by many and was always the first to offer help to anyone in need. He loved graciously, but for all he gave, it was returned ten-fold. He will forever be remembered as a warrior with true grace, optimism, strength, kindness and resilience.
In honor of his first birthday in Heaven and the amazing life he lived, his family and friends will host a Celebration of his Life at CROC’s 19th Street Bistro in Virginia Beach on June 28, 2021 at 5:00 pm. A private memorial service will be held at the beach on June 29, 2021. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund. As a long-term dialysis patient, this charity was very near to Ryan’s heart. As an organ and tissue donor, Ryan’s gift of bringing joy to others will live on.
