Sandra Jane Grosselin Scritchfield, of Williamsburg, died at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center on September 29, 2018 at the age of 77. Sandra was born in Morgantown, WVa, the daughter of Anna John Grosselin and W. Arthur Grosselin where she lived until she married the love of her life, Michael John Scritchfield and embarked upon a series of travels and residences. She found new friends in Tennessee, Oklahoma, the Republic of Panama, Fairborn, Ohio. West Palm Beach, FL and finally Williamsburg, VA where she always dreamed of living. Sandra loved to collect books, china and post graduate degrees, wherever she lived. She spent most of her career as a cognitive psychologist, specializing in the area of adult dyslexia.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Michael John Scritchfield; one sister, Donna R. Nuce of Shinnston, WVa; two nieces, Karla Renee Allen and Kathy Lynn Morris, both of Bridgeport, WVa. She had one infant brother, William Emil Grosselin, who preceeded her in death.
Sandra loved her family and friends. She hated the heat, deep water and household insects, which she dealt with in some unusual ways. Sandra was a Red Cross Hospital volunteer at WPAF Base Hospial in Fairborn, Ohio, she is registered at the Williamsburg Regional Library in Lightfoot, VA and is part of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO) until her passing.
