SARA HILL OGDEN
Chesapeake – Sara H. “Scooter” Ogden, 87, passed away peacefully in her home on January 12, 2013. Sara was born, Sara Amelia Hill in Tampa, FL later relocating to Plainfield, NJ with her parents, Hiram Warner Hill and Alma Woodard Hill who preceded her in death along with her husband, CDR Samuel Burr Ogden Jr. USNA47 VA65. Left to cherish her memories are three Navy brat-sons, Peter Norma Jean, Richard Micki, and Michael Julie; 11 grandchildren, Brandon, Dana Absher, Victoria, Michelle, Vachelle, Marcy, Brittani, Zachary, Neil, Michael, and Whitney; three great-grandchildren; two squadron moms; and three best buddies, Theodora L Rink, Janie MacLennan, and Jeanne R Shaw who preceded her in death. Sara A Hill, a graduate of Plainfield High School, Plainfield, NJ graduated with honors from Averett College in Danville, VA. She graduated in the Class of 1945 with a major in Music. She was a member of Delta Phi Sigma Sorority. Sara worked with her son, Richard, as an Executive-Assistant for the last 17 years. Sara Ogden was devoted to military causes and was the recipient of the MEDAL OF HONOR-MOM award presented to her by her family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in memory of Sara Hill Ogden to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Virginia Chapter of The Wounded Warrior Program Peninsula. Sara Hill Ogden will be buried at Oak Lawn Cemetery Association adjacent to The Ogden House Museum and Gardens, 1530 Bronson Rd, Fairfield, Connecticut.
