Sarah A. Iascone Chesapeake
Sarah A. Iascone, 84, passed away on July 21, 2010. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters from Oklahoma. Sarah is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carmen Iascone; sister, Teresa Silva of Mexico and Maria Iascone of Italy.
Sarah was born in Jalisco, Mexico and immigrated to the United States when she was small. She graduated in Oklahoma and began her teaching career there for five years. Later she moved to Norfolk, VA where she taught at Norview High School and Booker T. Washington for 32 years. She continued her education at William & Mary where she got her Masters Degree in counseling. She loved teaching and used her mastery of teaching skills to impart knowledge, but more importantly to inspire excellence and plant dreams within her students. She possessed a gift of natural goodness that shone brightly in the classroom and a love of people that made each of her students feel special.
She was a past president of the Lady Elks Auxillary and Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Roma Lodge, legion of Mary and was a professed Franciscan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 7th , 11:00am at Saint Mathews Catholic Church in VA. Beach, where she has been a member for 51 years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the church.
