Scott Alan Chandler 52 of Virginia Beach, left this world on August 26, 2023 surrounded by the love of his family.
Scott was born and raised in Norfolk, VA where he attended Ryan Academy. He played basketball and baseball for Ryan, The American Legion and Virginia Wesleyan College. Despite living almost 20 years in Va Beach, he always considered himself a Norfolk “kid”.
Scott played guitar and sang and toured in various bands such as Gang Chorus and Churn. He also started his own record label, Incubator, where he recorded and produced many of his favorite local bands.
Scott’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit led him to his career as designer, producer and owner of his own embroidery company, In the Eye.
Scott was a quiet, deep soul who loved surfing, music, baseball, animals and anything outdoors or on the water. He cherished quiet time with his family, especially his children and pets. He appreciated a strong, loving relationship with his mother Sally, to whom he spoke several times daily.
In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Scott was generous in his support of youth sports. He coached his daughter in soccer and baseball, and coached his son in soccer, basketball, and their special love: baseball. He devoted 12+ years to coaching for Lynnhaven Baseball.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years Allison Thompson Chandler, his daughter Chloe Chandler and son Ethan Chandler, his mother and stepfather Sally and Bubba (Herbert) Lapetina, his stepmother Chrissie Chandler, and his step-siblings Troy Lapetina, Marie Lapetina, Herbie Lapetina and Tina Lovelace.
He is also survived by his aunt Debbie Query, uncle Terry Grandstaff, aunt Dot Grandstaff and cousins Kim Grandstaff, Lisa Semple, Nancy Barham, Kirby Query and Shawn Query.
Scott was predeceased by his beloved brother David Chandler and father Johnnie Chandler.
We invite friends and family to celebrate Scott’s memory. Scott’s celebration of life will commence with a paddle-out ceremony on Thursday, September 21 at 10:00 AM on 57th street in Virginia Beach’s north end. Family and friends who are not paddling out are invited to observe the ceremony from the beachside patio at the Wyndham Hotel. Parking is also available at the hotel parking garage.
