Hampton, Virginia – Sharon Elizabeth “Sherry” Kidwell, 68, passed away on April 30, 2020 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Sherry was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 9, 1951. She was preceded in death by her mother, Verna Mae Holt Wright, and sister, Nedis Backus.

Sherry had a great love for her family and friends. She served as a room mother and Cub Scout leader for her two sons as they grew up. She expressed her artistic side with watercolor painting and kept her mind active reading books of all genres. She supported the USO, no kill animal shelters, and the DC and Dollywood eagle cams. Sherry was a diehard fan of her beloved Tennessee Volunteer football team.

Left with the fondest memories of Sherry is her husband of 48 years, Charles Barry Kidwell, and son, Jeffrey P. Kidwell, both of Hampton, son, Justin W. Kidwell, of Asheville, North Carolina, her father, Billy Joe Wright, of Ruston, Louisiana, brothers, Phillip Wright and William Wright, sisters, Jolene Foster, Joyce Chandler, and Tammy Wright, aunts Mary Howerton and Frankie Atkins, uncle Jack Wright, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Sherry had many lifelong friends as well that she treasured spending time with.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to your local food bank or homeless shelter. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to vacremationsociety.com.
