Sharon R. Brandon

Virginia Beach – On Friday evening, September 8, 2017, Sharon was called home.

Sharon was born in Montclair, New Jersey to the late Harold Rogers and Clarice Smith Rogers. Sharon was a product of and graduated from the Montclair School system. While attending Montclair High School, Sharon was active as member of the Basketball and Track Teams.

Sharon attended Shaw University in Raleigh, NC, as a Physical Education major. She was active in the Physical Education Majors Club, a cheerleader and a member of the Shaw Drill Team. While at Shaw, she met and later married Charles E. Brandon. To that union Lori Ann and Scott Edward were born.

Sharon accepted Christ at an early age and joined The Union Baptist Church in Montclair, New Jersey, under the late Rev. D. C. Rice. Being active in the church, she was a member and past President of the Gospel Chorus and Senior Usher Board. She was also a Trustee, serving as the Church Treasurer for 8 years.

Sharon used her business talents as a Branch Manager with Atlantic National Bank in Norfolk, VA; an administrative assistant with Ricoh Corp. and Panasonic in NJ.

After the passing of her mother, Sharon relocated back to Virginia Beach, Virginia where she joined The Union Baptist Church of Virginia Beach. For several years, Sharon served as President of the 8:00 AM Usher’s Ministry. As a member of the Senior Ministry, she held the position of Treasurer, keeping accurate financial records. Sharon was an integral part of the Food Pantry Ministry, greeting those who came through the door by name. Sharon also served as a part of the Gala Committee. Her services to these ministries will truly be missed.

Sharon leaves her daughter, Lori A. Brandon of Waukegan, IL; son Scott E. Brandon of Virginia Beach, VA; and a host of friends and acquaintances.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 21 at 1:00 pm at Union Baptist Church, 4608 South Boulevard, Virginia Beach, VA, 23452.
