Sirley Jane Walker McHorney passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 surrounded by her two loving daughters. Sirley was born May 6, 1946 to Milton and Esther Walker in Currituck, NC. Sirley was a graduate of Joseph P. Knapp High School, class of 1964.

Sirley worked government contracts, with many different companies throughout her career, where she met many of her lifelong friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her three grandchildren, whether it was taking little trips with them or simply playing a game of cards.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Tracey Rominger (Kriby) of Chesapeake, VA and Lesley Kennedy (Lawerence) of Orlando, FL.; three grandchildren: Kelli Goforth, Shane Goforth, and Nathan Kennedy. She also leaves behind a brother, Barry Walker (Nancy) of Grandy, NC, and their children, Darin and Nicole, and a host of cousins and faithful, loving friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

Tracey and Lesley, I want you to know you all are in our prayers. Mom and the rest of the family, Cherrill Ann and her family as well know what you are feeling. We lost dad ( Newton)in Dec and I know they are together walking the streets in heaven. Your mom was a beautiful soul in my eyes, always so sweet and kind when I remember being around her when I was growing up. They both of you just as beautiful. We love you both and will be thinking bout you all .

So sorry to hear the news of the loss of your mom. She was such a wonderful person. I have such fond memories of spending many weeks with her during the summers when you girls were small. Great memories and many hours have been shared your mom and grandmother, Aunt Esther, two great ladies.

I worked with Sirley at Jonathan Corporation. She always had a smile for everyone and we had some really good times. May God grant peace and comfort to your family. I was very blessed to have known her, may she Rest In Peace. Regina

Tracy, Lesley and families, There are no words we can say to comfort you. No condolences that would ever express the love we have for your dear, sweet Mom. She was not only a life long friend, but she was a second mom to Lisa and I, and the sister to my mom that she never had. We will miss her smile, her laugh, our little talks. We will miss sharing dinner with her, and her calling or texting about how much she enjoyed it. She will forever be in our hearts, until we see her again in Heaven. Our love to all of you. Tracey, don't be a stranger. You and Lesley both know we are here if you need us. God bless you and wrap His loving arms around you, and give you Peace.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother. She and I first met in the 8th grade and remained friends always. She was one of the kindest, gentlest people that we have ever known. God has a new Angel in Heaven! She was loved by so many and will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure and opportunity to know her.

In memory of Sirley McHorney, Tom & Linda Weatherly lit a candle

I have many memories of Milton and Esther and my mom and dad, Jean and Henry. Some of my memories are of them having oyster roasts at our house or their house, and mom working with Esther in the Maple post office. Sirley Jane and I played her 45 rpm record collection in the her bedroom while the adults gathered in the kitchen. Also, my Aunt Evelyn Lane and family lived next door to the Walkers and my grandparents lived next door to my aunt. There are many many good memories.

My heartfelt sympathy to all of Sirley Jane's family and friends. I have many fond memories of times together as children and young adults.
