Condolences to Darla, Melissa Bangs, Boston, Tristan and Jamie, and Brenton Furman. May memories of the happy times you shared w/Steve help sustain you during this difficult time. Many years have passed since I first met Darla and Steve and from the first they became good friends. Steve will be missed by so many. He was the most caring and generous person to all. Many a time, he came to help me, with some household problem I could not handle on my own, once my husband passed, and I am ever grateful for that help. Soft spoken and "cool", just seemed so relaxed all the time. I loved how he helped raise Darla's grandson Brenton, when Brenton's mom died suddenly. Steve loved that boy as his own, and guided him to become the man he is today. He was also very caring about Boston and Tristan, and loved to spend time with them and take them to places to have fun experiences. I know he had other grandchildren but I never go to meet them, perhaps they lived somewhere other than Virginia Beach; never met his daughter or his son, in the over 30 years that we have been friends. Steve was a good son. He went to spend time with his mother in FL every year, and spoke often about her. I know he rests in peace, free of the pain he was suffering in the last months of his life. May he be forever remembered by all whose lives he touched with kindness and loving thoughts.
