Stephen A. Furman, 74, left this life on April 26, 2022 with his wife, Darla, and daughter, Kim, by his side. He was born to Lemuel Woodrow and Mary Vincent Furman in Portsmouth, VA on June 10, 1947. He graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1965.
Steve retired as a pipefitter from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the Local 272 branch and served as the business manager for 22 years. He was a long time member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and served on The Ventry for several years. Steve was the treasurer of the Ridgley Civics League for many years. He was a licensed building contractor for over 20 years and a landlord for 30 years. When he wasn’t serving his community, he was an avid traveler and loved world history.
Steve was predeceased by his father; his (step) daughter Amy D. Lundin; and his beloved dog, Grace. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Darla; mother, Mary Vincent Furman; son, Stephen A. Furman; daughter, Kim Morris; (step) daughter, Melissa Bangs; sister, Donna Pelot; brother, Lemuel Furman, Jr.; and grandchildren: Brenton Furman, Nicolas Foreman, Boston Almeida, Tristan Bangs, and Grace Furman.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach.
