Steven Dale Prevo, USN(RET) passed away on September 24, 2023. Steve was born in Flint, Michigan to James & Katherine Prevo on November 5, 1963. Steve was a graduate of Davidson High School & Thomas Edison State College. Steve was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer of 20 years – and worked for the government as a civilian employee at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center for the past 11 years.

Steve was predeceased by his mother, Katherine (Hook) Prevo, and his sister, Sherry J.(Prevo) Hanrahan. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Hinchy) Prevo, his son Kyle Prevo, father James Prevo; brothers & sisters Jeff Saumier, Kim Prevo, Kendra & Joe Kaiser & Kevin Prevo; mother & father in-law Frank & Nancy Hinchy; sisters & brothers-in laws as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Steve requested an informal celebration of life. His family will receive visitors on Friday, September 29, 2023 between 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at their home in Chesapeake, VA.

His family will also have a celebration of life in Flint, Michigan at the Gateway Hotel & Convention Center 5353 Gateway Centre Blvd on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

I had the pleasure of working with Steve for the past 5 years here at MARMC. He was the electrical planner for my shop and i would come and talk to him a couple times a week regarding parts and stuff. This past year I switched jobs and I joined him in planning as the other electrical planner and I sat on the other side of him. We had a very good relationship and he was always there to help me out. We kept it light and we would always joke around. I will miss him and our daily talks. He had a wealth of knowledge and I knew if asked him about something he had the answer somewhere. My deepest condolences to his family.

Steve and I always joked that we were each other's favorite cousin. It really wasn't a joke. (Don't tell the others). He was a special person and will always be remembered fondly by me. I will cherish all the times we spent together at Christmas Eve celebrations at Grandma's house, times out at the lake on the island, and other family get togethers, including an epic trip to Cedar Point! I can still hear him joking and laughing. I only wish we had lived closer so that we could have spent more time together in our adult years. He will be missed by me as well as many others. We are all heartbroken to have lost such a wonderful person. Sending a big hug to you Barbara and to Kyle also.xxoo❤️

It was a pleasure working with Steve. Always easy to talk to and more than willing to offer his help. One great trip together was going to Camp Lejeune to ride out to the USS Wasp to do a survey. Just a great guy to be around. He will be missed for sure. Fair winds and following seas.

I knew Steve for the past year and he was a kind and soft-spoken man. I was so sorry to hear of his loss. My prayers go out to his family in this difficult time.

With great sadness we hear of our nephew, Steve Prevo’s passing. May he enter into heaven joining his Prevo relatives and his friends. God Bless you Steve. We have many happy memories shared by your cousins. RIP 🥰😍
