Virginia Beach – Steven Howard Doucette passed away at home on February 19, 2026 after a long illness.  He was born in Providence, Rhode Island on December 5th, 1951 to Raymond and Lillian Doucette, who predeceased him.

Steve is survived by his sister Rhona Boyce, brother Brad, sister Elaine West, and beloved nurse, Shaunte Johnson.

Steve graduated from Princess Anne School and Elon College where he met and married Trisha Edney, his wife and best friend for 54 years.  He adored her and his daughters Ashley and Jesse, son-in-law Brandon and granddaughters Ava, Phoebe, and Cece.

Steve’s incredible work ethic and keen business sense identified him as unique and special to many.  After college he joined his mother at Academy Van and Storage and grew the company adding APlus Van and Storage, both serving all branches of the United States military.  He devoted himself to these businesses building on what his family began, not only for his own but also to provide for extended family.

Deeply fond of friends and family, he lived to make them laugh.  Steve brought us so many smiles over the years.  He always found joy in “stretching the truth” just to keep the doctors and nurses on their toes.

We hope the memories of all the fun and laughs will protect our hearts until we meet again.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
