Stewart H. Sumpf
Virginia Beach – Stewart H. Sumpf, 91, passed away on January 26, 2013. Stewart was born in Waterbury, CT to the late Charles and Elsie Sumpf. He proudly served in the USMC during WWII where he was stationed at Pearl Harbor and Norfolk, VA. He worked as a photo engraver for the Waterbury Republican American Newspaper for 25 years before moving to Virginia Beach in 1969. He worked for Harte-Hanks in Norfolk and retired in 1983. He enjoyed wood working and serving as a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife who he adored for 70 years, Louise; daughters, Judith Melchionna Robert, Donna Stallings and Betty Simmerman; 5 grandsons, Robert Carolyn, David Susan, James Matthew, Christopher Michael and Kyle Simmerman; and 2 great-granddaughters, Ella and Caitlyn Melchionna.
