Susan Evans (née Desjardins) passed away peacefully on July 29, 2024, in Chesapeake, VA, at the age of 79. Born on February 21, 1945, in Fall River, Massachusetts, Susan was a cherished member of her community and a beacon of love and support to her family.
Susan dedicated 25 years of her career as an office manager for Dr. Anil Patel, where she was respected for her professionalism and warmth. Her educational journey began at Saint Mary’s in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, continued at Pawtucket High School, and concluded with her studies at Tidewater Community College.
A devout member of Saint Therese Catholic Church, Susan actively participated in religious and community activities. She was an auxiliary member of Eagles 3204, a member of the Ladies of Saint Therese, and a former member of the Sunshine Club at Holy Spirit VB, where she contributed positively to various community engagements.
Susan’s personal life was filled with joy and love, surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Bob Evans; sons, Pete Romanelli and John Nazzaro; stepchildren, Lori Donovan and Robert Evans Jr; grandchildren, Connor Donovan, Jack Donovan, Tyler Romanelli, Lauren Romanelli, Olivia Nazzaro, Reagan Evans, and Katlynn Evans; daughter-in-law, Edna Romanelli; and several nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Armand and Adela (Staskiewicz) Desjardins; sister, Janice Kittell; and son, Jay Romanelli.
The services to honor and celebrate her life will be held at the Church of Saint Therese. The Cremation Society of Virginia in Chesapeake, VA, is assisting the family during this time.
Susan will be remembered as an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother whose legacy of kindness and dedication will live on through the many lives she touched.
