Susan Rutledge Daniels, born on September 26, 1961, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away naturally on December 23, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 63.
Susan was a dedicated and accomplished laboratory technologist, retiring from Chesapeake Regional Medical Center after many years of exemplary service. Her commitment to her work and patients was evident to all who knew her.
Beyond her professional life, Susan had a profound love for the outdoors. She found joy and solace in bicycling and kayaking, often exploring the natural beauty around her. One of her cherished pastimes was strolling through the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, where she felt a deep connection with nature. Susan was also a lifetime member of all the Virginia State Parks, a testament to her enduring appreciation for Virginia’s landscapes and natural wonders.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Carlton and Patricia Rutledge, whose memories she held dear.
Susan is survived by her devoted daughters, Erynn Daniels and Cadmium Daniels, who continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and love. She leaves behind her dearest friends, Raymond and Rhonda McEvoy, who were like family to her. She will be dearly missed by her favorite companion, Emma Jean, her loyal Boxer dog, who brought immense joy to her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Virginia Beach SPCA, a cause close to Susan’s heart.
