Chesapeake ~ Suzanne R. “Sue” Parker passed away peacefully on March 11, 2021 at 71 years of age, due to complications of a long-term battle with multiple myeloma. She fought an exceptionally good fight.
Sue was a native of Buffalo, New York. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Bischoff, and a brother William Bischoff. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, John S. Parker; daughter, Bevin K. Matarese of Spotsylvania, VA; son, Jonathan H. Parker of Chesapeake, VA; four loving grandchildren, Michael J. Matarese, Noah S. Matarese, Benjamin C. Matarese and Elizabeth G. Matarese, all of Spotsylvania, VA, and Kimberly, Daniel, Katelynn and Greyson Root of Chesapeake, VA.
Sue was employed at Old Dominion University as Graduate Program Coordinator/School of Nursing and was formerly employed with the University of South Carolina/College of Public Health. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family and her four-legged dependents were her daily focus. Sue was also blessed to have a cornucopia of extended family, friends, and colleagues she absolutely loved, and who loved her. Her passing completes a truly beautiful life she lived, and according to her terms.
Sue requested no funeral services but the family requests in lieu of flowers, that donations to honor Sue’s memory be directed to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
The family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Virginia Oncology Associates, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital and Chesapeake Fire/EMS/Police for their efforts in caring for Sue so diligently during her times of need.
Arrangements are being handled by the Cremation Society of Virginia.
