Sylvia Ann Boyd, 65, passed away on May 25, 2023. She was born on July 8, 1957, in Hereford, Texas, to Bernardo and Esperanza Martinez. She was predeceased by her father, Bernardo, her brothers; Benny Martinez, Jr. and Freddie Martinez, and sister in law, Vanessa Martinez.

Known as RaRa to many, she loved to spoil those she loved, making sure everyone was taken care of. She loved to decorate her home for every holiday and always had decorative lights around the house no matter what time of year. Sylvia enjoyed shopping, tanning, swimming, spending time by the poolside, pampering herself by getting her nails and pedicure done and held strong faith in God. Her favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers and she enjoyed watching Family Feud in the evening. Her home was always comfortable and welcoming. She loved her family with all her heart, her rock being her husband, Renny. Sylvia fought the good fight and will be missed by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Renny, her mother, Esperanza, her daughters; Renesia and Elaine, her son; Ricardo,  her grandchildren; Alysa, Eryka, Ashlei, Rikki, Nevaeh, and Shiloh and her great-grandchildren; Greyson Hofmann and Aubrey Baker. She also leaves behind her sister; Sarah Saunders and brother; Bernie Martinez, as well as nieces; Britney Maddux-Hawks, Ashley Valdez, Christina Martinez, Cora Garcia, Crystal Martinez and the favorite, Cynthia Munoz and nephews; D.J. Maddux, Freddie Martinez, Jr., Tim Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Ricky Martinez and Roger Martinez,  and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 1pm at Beauty for Ashes, 487 Denbigh Blvd. Newport News, Virginia 23608.
