Tede with her sparkling eyes and heart of gold was as pure and loving as a person could ever be. From Tede's great horned owl programs throughout the region to her years of free story-times for young children, she will always be the Virginia Living Museum's most famous and most loved person. Tede volunteered thousands of hours to the VLM and touched countless lives with her loving spirit and sense of wonder for nature.

I am sorry for your loss. Tede was a strong and gracious lady who beamed with talent and love of nature. I admired her artwork and I can still hear her voice telling all about the Great Horned Owl. She will be missed and long remembered by anyone fortunate to have been at one of her programs.
Kelly Herbst left a message on October 20, 2014:
I had the pleasure and privilege of knowing Tede for many years at the Virginia Living Museum. She was a gracious and delightful woman, and she will be sorely missed. Her kind spirit and love of nature shone through everything she did, and I know she will continue to watch over all of us at the Virginia Living Museum. May God give comfort to her family, and help them know she is now in perfect peace.

It was a shock to hear of Tede's passing. We had the pleasure of being her friend these past years. What a delightful, kind lady she was. Anyone who met Tede met a friend because she had a giving heart and spirit. We will always treasure the friendship and special bond with Tede. She was a very proud grandmother and especially happy when she became a great-grandmother. Her family updates were always the first news she shared when we could get together. Your family will be in our prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.

You will always have a special place in my heart and memories, Tede. May you rest in peace, dear cousin.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Catherine and Ian Millar left a message on October 21, 2014:
I volunteered at the VLM with my son, Ian, while he was in middle and high school. Tede made us feel so welcome to the VLM family and demonstrated all the best qualities of an ideal volunteer. We loved when she was scheduled with us on the Outdoor Trail with the screech owl and could eavesdrop on her stories. She was an influence on Ian's choosing to study Biology in college. We feel so privileged to have been one of the many lucky people whose life Tede touched.
