Thelma G. Thompson passed away Monday April 12th with her care giving daughter Becky by her side.
Thelma was born in Newport, NC January 17th 1931 and is predeceased by her parents Cicero and Alice Dickinson, and sister (Sissy) Laura Mae Treadway.
Thelma was married to Ben Thompson for 58 years and they shared their lives together in Norfolk, VA Beach VA, and retired to Nags Head NC.
Thelma taught preschool many years at Barbara Jacobs School in Norfolk VA before retirement and provided childcare in Nags Head for numerous children known by each of them as Auntie. She loved them all and stayed a part of their lives up and thru high school.
Survivors include son Ben (Tommy) Thompson Jr. his wife Mary, grandson son Ben Thompson III and wife Jamie and great grandchildren Walker and Wesley. Grandson Michael Thompson and Wife Kara and great grandsons Mason and Avery. To all of them she was loved as Mima.
Daughter Becky Rollins and husband Forest grandsons Keven Maher II and Quinn Rollins.
Son Timmy Thompson and wife Cathy, grandson David Chaudoin wife Karen and great grandson Ethan.
Brother in Laws Frank Treadway husband to Laura Mae, John Thompson and wife Evelyn, and many nephews and nieces.
Thelma enjoyed her friends and their families and was loved by many as Auntie. She enjoyed the beach, fishing with her husband Ben (Popas), any opportunity to play cards or board games, cooking large meals for family and friend get- togethers.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on January 15, 2022 at Haygood United Methodist Church at 4713 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
