Thomas Delmer Ackiss, born on March 1, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 79. His life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for family and friends.
Thomas was a man who wore many hats throughout his life, most notably as a painter. His strong work ethic wasn’t just something he practiced—it was how he lived. He devoted himself tirelessly to providing for his family, ensuring that they were always supported and cared for. His greatest joy came from his family, and he found profound fulfillment in their happiness and success.
Thomas had a passion for Westerns and country western music, which often filled his home with warmth and joy. In his younger years, he was an active member of London Bridge Baptist Church. Although he visited the church less frequently as he grew older, he maintained a close personal relationship with his beliefs, finding comfort and strength in them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Beverly Ackiss. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia F. Ackiss; his children, Thomas S. Ackiss and Darlene; his best friends, Paul and Audrey Pine; and his cherished furry companion, Mocha Jane, a rescue Yorkie who brought him much joy and companionship.
Thomas’s life was not marked by notable achievements or accolades, but rather by the quiet dedication and selfless love he showed to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
At this time, no services are planned, but this may change in the future. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
