It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Elwood Lovelace, who departed this life on April 3, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 28, 1936, in Henry County, Virginia, Thomas lived a life rich in service, love, and to his family.
Thomas proudly served in the U.S. Navy, where he demonstrated the values of duty and commitment. Following his honorable service, he pursued a career at Waco Inc., from which he retired after years of dedicated work.
Throughout his life, Thomas enjoyed the simple pleasures that brought him joy and peace. He was an avid camper and fisherman, often finding solace in the natural world. His love for dancing was well-known among those close to him, as he would often sway to the rhythms of classic tunes and like many of those song Papa really was a rolling stone.
In his later years, Thomas cherished spending time with his beloved family, especially his daughter Vickie and son Stephen. These moments were dear to him, and he treasured every memory made with them.
Thomas was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Lovelace; his parents, Victoria Asby and Thomas Lovelace; and his daughter, Connie Ross. His legacy continues through his surviving children: Vickie Smith (Lonnie), Thomas Lovelace Jr. (Judy), Stephen Lovelace, Gary Lovelace, and Tina Young. He also leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren: Michael Linville, Chris Moore, Samantha Jensen, April French, Angel Minera, Stephanie Lovelace, Sydney Tompkins, Dwan Hernandez, Faustina Lovelace, Maria Lovelace, Thomas Lovelace, Serpronia Lovelace, and Amira Lovelace; great-grandchildren: Damon Linville, Caleb Linville, Leanna French, Micah Hines, Jazzylynne Blackman, Bryce Moore, Payton Jensen, Riley Jensen, Leland Arciga, Ayashalet Hernandez, Letica Hernandez, and Henry Minerva; and great-great-grandchildren: Hunter Linville and Ansleigh Linville.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date to honor the life and legacy of Thomas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Thomas’s name to Treasured Memories Funding, ensuring that his memory continues to bring comfort and support to others.
