Thurman Edward Piland, Jr.
September 29, 1950 - June 24, 2023

Thurman Edward Piland, Jr. “Eddie,” passed away on June 24th, 2023 from heart disease. He was born in Norfolk, VA on September 29, 1950 and graduated from Maury High School in 1968.

Eddie was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam before retiring from Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 2008 as an apprentice instructor.

Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Amy Pell Piland; son, Joshua P. Piland, and spouse, Aimee DiRocco; grandsons, Caleb and Theodore; brothers: Robert and wife, Ona Piland, Lee and Regina Piland, and Mel Piland; sister-in-laws, Holly A. Greene and Gwendolyn L. Pell; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many friends.

Eddie is predeceased by his parents, Thurman and Frances Piland; brothers, William and Russell Piland; and brother-in-law, Kenneth C. Greene.

A celebration of life will be held on July 15, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 392 located at 2408 Bowland Pkwy., Va Beach, VA 23454.
