Tomoe Yamamoto White
Virginia Beach – Tomoe passed away peacefully at home on Nov 3rd, 2012 at the age of 85. Born in Yokohama City, Japan, October 30, 1927 to Yoshichi & Iku Yamamoto, she was the second oldest of 5 children. She met Albert L. White, Jr. and they were married in 1951. Joining her husband, she left her home in Japan, and came to the United States to begin their new life and raise a family. With her extraordinary independent nature, she overcame the many challenges ahead of her: learning the English language, adapting to American customs, and enduring years of being separated from her family. As devoted parents, she and Albert raised six wonderful children. Tomoe was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her son Ike White and her daughter Joyce Green. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Carolynn White, son Albert White and wife Christie, daughter Linda Woodard and husband Bob, daughter Ruby Ainslie and husband Jeff, and five grandchildren, Evan White, Brittany Lacy, Christy Guth, Joey Guth, and Tyler Greene, a great-grandson, Gavin Guth, and a lovely sister, Tomiko of Japan. She worked at Sears at Pembroke in both sales and as a seamstress for over 20 years, where she accumulated many devoted clients and lifelong friends. Her determined ability to guide her family with honor and dignity was beautifully coupled with her gentle, sweet and humble presence; the combination of which will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her. A service will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, Nov. 7th at Holloman Brown Funeral Home, 1485 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, VA. Following the service, the family will see friends at the home of Albert & Christie White. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the cremation arrangements.
