It is with heartbreaking saddness that I share this news: Roni Podrasky, 76, of Williamsburg, Virginia, departed this life February 13, 2021, at home surrounded by family, on our 56th Wedding Anniversary Day. Born October 1, 1944 in Charleroi, PA to Dorothy J. and M/Sgt. Robert L. Queen.
She waited, with a heart full of love, until our Anniversary Day to say goodbye, showing the full extent of her love and devotion to her family: husband Bob Podrasky; son Jeff and wife Lori Podrasky of Yorktown; son Rob and wife Clara Podrasky of Amelia Island, FL; sister Peggy Queen and partner Stephen Bubala of Williamsburg; Grandchildren Jacob and Alex Podrasky of Yorktown. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
We first met she was 11. For the next 65 years she was the love of my life!
“She was my North, my South, my East and West,
My working week and my Sunday rest,
My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever”.
LOVE….describes Roni. Her friends add more: joyful, kind, compassionate, outrageously eager to make sure all had fun! She was generous with time in helping others and had a passion for volunteering at The Williamsburg House of Mercy, helping those in need, as well as volunteering for The Grove Food Recovery. Roni worked for Ethan Allen Interiors in Williamsburg and Orlando for 16 years, part of “The Designing Women”.
Today she rests in the arms of Jesus, peace after a 10 year battle with metastatic breast cancer, the last 3 years the most devastating. The family is planning a memorial Mass at St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg with inurnment following Mass in St. Bede’s Columbarium, at a date determined as Covid-safe. Arrangements in care of the Cremation Society of Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, it’s Roni’s wish that memorial donations may be made in her name to The Williamsburg House of Mercy, 10 Harrison Ave. A donate button is on their website: https://williamsburghouseofmercy.org/ 757.229.3700
Cremation Society of Virginia-Newport News assisted the family with arrangements.
