Virginia A. McCloughan – Virginia Beach

Virginia A. McCloughan, 74, of Onancock, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in Virginia Beach after battling cancer for the past two years. She was born February 23rd, 1936 in Washington DC. to Frank and Lillian Nichols. She is survived by her son, Mike McCloughan, of Virginia Beach, daughter Cathy Wyne, of Poolesville, MD, brother Tom Nichols, of Wanque, NJ, 5 grand children and was proceeded by her husband, Don, of 55 years. She graduated from Blair High School and was employed by the Montgomery County School System. She touched many with her love, humor and kindness throughout her life. She was active in her community as a Cancer Society volunteer, Daughter of the American Revolution, a member of the Onancock Baptist Church and she was a Explorer Post leader serving as a role model for young men and women. In lieu of flowers, send memorials in the name of Virginia McCloughan to the American Cancer Society. A memorial will be scheduled at a later date. I would like to send my deepest condolences to the McCloughan family. I am thinking of you all during this difficult time and although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.

We are so saddened to hear of Virginia's passing. She was a lovely, lovely person. She and Don were so interested in life and helping others, and a delight to be around. Our community has missed them in recent years. We send our sincere sympathy to all the family.

My deepest sympathy to Virginia's family on their loss of this lovely person. I met her some years ago through our rug hooking efforts in which she excelled. She was brave and kind and funny and got things done. It was my pleasure to know her.

Mrs. McCloughan welcomed me into her home so many times in my years at Aspen Hill. The McCloughan home was simply beautiful, smelled of yummy food and filled with lots of laughter and much of this due to the hard work of Mrs McCloughan and her great outlook on life. My thoughts are with the extended McCloughan family at this time of loss.

The Memorial Service for mom will be Saturday, January 8 at 11am at the Community United Methodist Church, 1072 Old Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23464. Reception to follow in the church social hall.
