My sincerest (albeit very belated) condolences to Bill Wentz's family. When I was a freshman at Fork Union, First Sergeant Bill Wentz was my company's sergeant. I was a mouthy young teenager and one time I was sent to Sergeant Wentz to be disciplined, as he was lecturing me about the correct way to act, I made a smart ass comment to him, and he grabbed me by the belt and shirt collar and lifted me clear off the ground. In his exuberance in the lift he was moving too quickly and unfortunately completed the motion and I went out his second story window! Fortunately there was a banked grassy hill, and I tuck and rolled, and landed well. Brushing myself off, I went back in the building to his room again, and his face told me that he knew that it was not good that he through a freshman through a window.
I then apologized for the smart ass comment and never told a soul about it. Bill from that point on, was always keeping his eye out for me and his humor, kindness, strength, and care helped make me the man I am today. I will always remember the look he gave me as I walked back in his room, a mixture of relief, fear, and humor.
Thank you, 1st Sergeant Wentz.
Body, Mind, and Spirit.
My prayers and love go out to you in your loss. I hope that your beautiful memories sustain you during this difficult time. I remember Bill as a happy and loving guy. Pat and Kellie-may peace be with you both.
Dear Terri, I remember your newlywed days as your neighbor at Gateway Apts. in Richmond. Then our paths crossed as we found ourselves all living in Virginia Beach, etc. I have not seen you all in quite some time. Last time I saw Bill he was in the check out line at Kroger. Think I saw you last at Cox or Cape Henry. The service for Bill was so wonderful. I am sorry I could not stay to see you at the reception. I have always had a "special" history with Bill and you. I am so sad for your loss and your sons. When my husband died in 1998, I made it a point to find ways to celebrate his life which gave me and my son much comfort. God Bless You and give you strength. Love, Debbie
Pat, So sorry to hear of the loss of your son.
You and your family have our deepest sympathy!

Dear Terri and Bill's entire family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Bill! He was the ultimate "southern gentleman " and I was honored to be a part of your wedding 28 years ago! He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. You and Bill have built a strong foundation for the boys regarding love, trust, commitment, and devotion. They learned from the best! Your relationship has been an inspiration to me and many others. May your memories comfort you today and always! God Bless!
Love Always, Amy Neal

Terri, Will, Chad family and friends, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Big Bill you were a loving husband, great father, motivator, guidance counselor, friend, true warrior, the face and voice of strength, love, faith, spirituality, peace, joy and happiness; and you know you could cook like nobody's business. Bill always treated everyone equal. To me you were simply my brother whom I loved dearly. It didn't matter that we had different moms & dads. LOL I know that I will see you again in heaven. I can just see you smiling from ear to ear when we burst through those pearly gates like at a GW Friday night football game. You know we gonna be LOUD! Can you do me a HUGE favor? Please ask God if it's okay for me to bring my Gap Band CD and a few must have kitchen ingredients and items. I want to get the OK ahead of time to avoid being embarrassed in front of family and friends. Get our Ultimate Kitchen ready! I love you BROTHA like potato chips & ranch dressing. swâº
Prayers for our family may God give you strength and healing during this difficult time.
