William ‘Billy’ H Lakes, Jr, aged 62, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born on September 9, 1963, in Dayton, Ohio.
Billy and his wife, June, were high school sweethearts and recently moved to Virginia Beach to be closer to family and watch their grandchildren grow up. For Billy to be the best Papaw he could be. He spent his final days surrounded by those who loved him most, including his wife, June, his son, Josh, daughter-in-law, Krista, granddaughter, Emma and grandson, Wesley. He found his greatest joy in being a Papaw to Emma and Wesley. That role meant everything to him.
Billy will be remembered for his humor, his strength and the way he showed up for the people he loved. He loved his family deeply and always made sure they were taken care of first before himself. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati teams and The Ohio State University. He loved to golf, play euchre, and loved to listen to music.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jaret Lakes, in 2017, and his father, William H Lakes, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, June, his son Josh, daughter-in-law, Krista, grandchildren, Emma and Welsey, Mother, Verlene June Lakes, sisters, Kim (Phil) Lakes-Morman, Anita (Tim) Miller, nieces and nephews.
