William Edward Ashley, 65, passed away with his loving family around him on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Bill was born in Charleston, South Carolina on January 29, 1959. He was the son of the late Bill E. Ashley and the late Esther Phillips Reynolds Ashley. Bill was an avid gardener with a green thumb coveted by many. He retired after an illustrious career at Brunk Tile Interiors. He was a creative, imaginative, and artistic man with an eye for decorating.

Bill is survived by his loving husband of 35 years, Duke Gleason, of Suffolk, VA. Also left to cherish his memory are his three siblings: Barbara Knight and Lisa Johnson, both of Virginia Beach, VA, and Mark Ashley (Elaine) of Suffolk, VA; his sister-in-law, Linda G. Gavoni (Tim) of Norfolk, VA; his brother-in-law, Gary L. Gleason (Barbara) of Chesapeake, VA; his very special brother-in-law, Steve Gleason of Suffolk, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews and his cat, Chi-Chi.

A celebration of life will be held at Holiday Inn Express located at 2757 Godwin Blvd in Suffolk, VA on March 23, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements.
