William Spencer, 90 yrs. old, passed away 12-31-22. Bill was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Dorothy Spencer; his brother, Robert Spencer; his sister, Martha Jean Spencer; his son, Kenneth Spencer; and his beloved wife of 65 yrs., Arlene Spencer.
Bill was a Navy Veteran from 1951-1955. He was an avid runner & cyclist and taught Spin Cycling classes at Sentara Fitness Center until the age of 80! He also enjoyed playing Chess almost daily.
Left to cherish his memory are his 60 yr. old daughter, Laurie Blair; his 65 yr old son, Stephen Spencer; his sisters, Delores Zerkle & Joanne Spencer; his grandsons, Jason Cooper, Brian Cooper, and Chris Cooper; and his great grandson, Jaden Cooper.

A private memorial will be held by his family. Any flowers or memorial donations can be sent to the Family Home. Please contact a family member or the Cremation Society of Virginia for the address.

Sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. I met him when I used to hang out with his son, Steve, who was and is one of my best friends. Bill was a very personable guy and very much a creative person, making crafts and objects you would usually find in stores. He was very easy to get along with and even later in life was very much a free spirit. I remember he used to ride his bike to work, in all kinds of weather, and grabbed hold, with both hands, of whatever caught his interest. I remember seeing that tendency in Steve as anything he did, he wanted to be the best. He tolerated me in my teen years and was always accepting of Steve and me in playing ping pong in his garage. He was good at what he did and I appreciated him telling me, with great enthusiasm, the intricacies of what he discovered. He was a great guy and I’ll miss him
