Virginia Beach – William T. Altherr, 73, was called to heaven on December16, 2013. He was from Cincinnati, Ohio and was born to Frances V. Wilhelm and William E. Altherr. He is preceded by his mother, father, and sister, Fran Altherr.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years of service. We will never forget his laugh, homemade spaghetti dinners, and the many cups of coffee shared at his kitchen table. He was a kind and gracious man that was always willing to help those in need. He welcomed many into his family that needed a heart to call home. He was a wonderful friend and father, will be missed dearly, and will forever be in our hearts.
Left to cherish his memory are sisters Judi Turner, Sherry Hathaway, and brother Dennis Schreiber; five daughters, Rachelle Manna, Angie Altherr, Vickie Paster, Laurie Martin, Stephanie Eddy and son Roy Altherr; three nephews, Dennis, Brian, and Sean; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on February 22, 2014. Place and time is to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed to www.cremate.org.
