Willie M. Everton, a devoted family man and respected figure in the banking industry, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, in Norfolk, Virginia. Born on July 9, 1936, in South Norfolk, Virginia, Willie lived a full and rich life, reaching the age of 88.
Willie’s career spanned several decades in the banking industry, where he was known for his dedication and integrity. Outside of his professional life, Willie had a passion for golfing in his younger years and later took joy in fishing and woodworking as he grew older. These pursuits brought him much happiness and contentment.
A lifelong member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Willie’s faith was a guiding force throughout his life. He found solace and community within the church’s walls, sharing in both its joys and responsibilities.
Willie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Sandra Everton, and his parents, Joe and Myrtle Everton. His enduring love for Sandra is a testament to their strong and enduring partnership.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his children, Dean Everton and Lee Ann Dail with her husband, Wayne; his grandchildren, Caylan, Haley, Izaak, and Cody; and his great-grandchildren, Avery and Owen Dail, along with Diego Dail-Magaña. Each one carries a part of his legacy and will remember him fondly for his wisdom, humor, and warmth.
The funeral service is set for Sunday February 9, 2025 at 2 pm at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Singleton Way. Willie will be interred at Emmanuel Episcopal Church to rest beside his dear wife, Sandra, as per his wishes.
In these times of sorrow, the family invites friends and loved ones to remember Willie for the remarkable man he was—a caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and an honorable man who touched the lives of many. May his soul rest in peace.
